Scrap Room Makeover

I’ve been busy working in my scrap room the last few days. Not with what I would like to be busy with in there but this will be so worth it once it’s done. The room was still a dark purple from when it was a bedroom.

I had to patch quite a few holes in the walls. The prep work sometimes takes longer than the painting. I am painting a light grey, which will brighten up the room a lot! And I also want to get different lights in there, and turn my IKEA floor lamp into a hanging light for over my desk. I will post more pictures as the changes happen. My accent colour will be AQUA! My all time favourite colour!

The purple still shines through the primer quite a bit, so hopefully the top coat will cover well. I plan to put the first topcoat on this evening. And then, tomorrow morning the last coat and hopefully different flooring on Wednesday night! Yeah!

Been Gone So Long...

I’m not sure if that title is a song but it could be written for me! I’ve been busy doing all sorts of things, and kind of forgot I even had a blog. Oh, the perils of a brain that is in too many places at a time! I have so many interests that I don’t know what to do. This blog has shown that, and will continue to. I will write about the stuff of my life, the scraps of my life, that I hope will be of interest to you. Just my brain rambling along, flitting from one subject to another. Sometimes thinking deeply and sometimes being consumed with frivolous things.

Some people make a certain word their word of the year. It’s a word that they focus on throughout the year for personal growth. Ali Edwards has a course on this concept and I have been tempted to take it. So far, I have just chosen a word for myself that I hope and pray will inspire me through the whole year. My word is GRATITUDE!

I am studying a book written by Nancy Leigh DeMoss called Choosing Gratitude - your journey to Joy. I always find things easier to remember when I write things down. So I am doing a lot of writing in a beautiful leather book that I bought at Magnolia in Waco, Texas in 2019.

One  thing that really struck me as I was reading was this: “ I’ve come to believe that few things are more becoming in a child of God than a grateful spirit. By the same token, there is nothing that makes a person more unattractive than the absence of a grateful spirit.”

If I was to write down everything in this book that strikes me and convicts me, I would be writing out almost the whole book! Sometimes it’s so hard to think of all the good things in our lives but when we intentionally do, we realize that there is far more to be grateful for than to complain about! “A grateful man or woman will be a breath of fresh air in a world contaminated by bitterness and discontentment. And the person whose gratitude is a byproduct of and a response to the redeeming grace of God will showcase the heart of the gospel in a way that is winsome and compelling.” Another quote from the book.

My goal was to read a chapter a day, but with so much writing and a little artwork, it takes quite a while. I guess it’s not the speed that I go through the book that counts, but what I will remember. I highly recommend this book for anyone that’s looking for an inspiring devotional!
